Program Overview

The purpose of our program, Rites of Passage, is to address historical inaccuracies, promote cultural awareness, and empower high school students through a transformative 15-week course followed by a 10-day trip to Ghana. We aim to debunk the notion that slaves were treated fairly and challenge the misrepresentation of African American history in mainstream education.

Through the 15-week course, we will immerse our participants in the rich and often overlooked history of African Americans. We will shed light on the resilience, contributions, and struggles of our ancestors by providing a comprehensive understanding of their journey.

The 10-day trip to Ghana is a pivotal aspect of the program. It will serve as a powerful bridge to our roots, allowing participants to witness firsthand the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade. Through cultural immersion and historical site visits, we aim to foster a deep sense of connection to our heritage and a profound understanding of the collective history of African Americans. The transformative experience will instill resilience, confidence, and a sense of purpose, empowering them to become advocates as they challenge false narratives and promote the importance of African American History

With your funding support, Rites of Passage will have a lasting impact on the lives of our youth, shaping informed and confident leaders who will carry forth the torch of truth and unity.

Applications for students eager to engage in a 15-week (in-person) course located in Stamford, CT is OPEN and will close on Wednesday, November, 1, 2023. Please note, you do not need to reside in Stamford to participate. For more information, feel free to contact us.
